 AFS60 and AFM60 – Industrial Ethernet absolute encoders
Absolute encoders produce unique coded values for each individual position. This removes the requirement for time consuming initialisation runs after a power down event. Standard Industrial Ethernet interfaces are now being used for communication of these values back to PLC control systems.
The AFS60 single-turn absolute encoder produces absolute information over one turn. The AFM60 multi-turn absolute encoder adds absolute data over up to 4096 turns. Both are available with the popular Ethernet interfaces Ethernet IP, ProfiNet and EtherCAT. In addition to providing absolute positional values these Ethernet equipped encoders also communicate speed information and a wide range of diagnostics e.g. operating hours, motion timers and temperature. In the context of
Industry 4.0 this enables the creation of intelligent preventative maintenance programs to be put in place.
As many PLC’s now have Industrial Ethernet interfaces built into them as standard,
the cost of implementing absolute feedback has never been more attractive.
 DFS60 – Programmable incremental encoders
      Incremental encoders are used for measuring the speed, acceleration
and position of rotating shafts in a wide range of machinery. Different applications require different resolutions, interface circuits and mechanical configurations. The programmable DFS60 simplifies the selection of an encoder as the resolution and output levels can be programmed using an easy to use handheld programming tool powered by 3 x AAA batteries.
