The Lockwell-EMTA Awards Limited (EAL) PLC001 course is designed to provide candidates with a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of the hardware and software of Programmable Logic Controllers. The course culminates in a two part examination, success in which will gain the candidate a Lockwell-EAL Certificate of Verified Achievement accompanied by a Lockwell manufacturer-specific endorsement certificate. Current PLC systems include Siemens Simatic Step 7, Allen Bradley RS Logix 500, Mitsubishi GX Developer, Modicon PL7 and Omron CX Programmer.
Through careful structure and great flexibility, the course practical topics are transportable, which means once a candidate has achieved success in the full PLC001 award for one manufacturer, awards in other manufacturers can be "bolted on" by success in the applicable 2 day course. For example, if a candidate successfully attends the PLC001 Siemens Step 7 course, he need only attend the 2 day component of the Mitsubishi GX Developer course, and pass the applicable practical assessment, to receive that manufacturer's Lockwell endorsed Certificate.
