City & Guilds 2391 Inspection, Testing & Certification

The Lockwell City & Guilds 2391 course is designed to provide electricians and those involved in electrical installation work with an understanding of the procedures to meet the following:

  • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • IEE BS7671:2001 Wiring Regulations
  • IEE Guidance Note 3 (Inspection & Testing)

All with regard to Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations.

The 2391 Inspection, Testing and Certification training is based around two major parts, a theory exam and a practical exam. Lockwell conducts both the theory and practical exams at their purpose built training centre. However, it should be noted that whilst the practical exam can be  arranged for a mutually agreeable time and date, the theory exam is set by City & Guilds.


Course Features

  • Overview of BS7671:2001, in particular Part 7 Inspection & Testing including:

          -Initial Verification
          -Alterations and additions to an installation (Minor Works)
          -Periodic Inspection and Testing
          -Certification and Reporting
          -Appendix 6-Model forms for Certification and Reporting

  • Use and application of IEE Guidance Note 3
  • Typical worked examples, in readiness for closed book written examination
  • Practical exercises using 17th Edition Test equipment, in preparation for the practical assessment. Instrumentation will be provided but we recommend that delegates bring their own test instruments if they are familiar with them.

  • Extensive Lockwell course study notes
  • C & G examination fee for the 2½ hour closed book written exam (evening only)
  • C & G examination fee for the 4 hour practical assessment (by appointment)
  • Use of suitable 17th Edition Test equipment for practical & exam purposes

Our 2391 package can be tailored to meet your specific needs as course only or exam only options.


Other 2391 options:

  • Practical 17th Edition Testing Course-A one day course covering the required 17th Edition tests on installations. This course can be taken with or without 2391 practical examination.
  • 2391 Written Examination Refresher-A one day course covering the relevant topic areas likely to be faced on the 2391 written paper examination. The course can be taken with or without the 2391 written examination.
